Add New Equipment to Library

This dialog allows you to add a new equipment item to the Equipment Library. It will then be available to be added to any of your catalyst cost estimates. You might do this if you have equipment cost data from a price quote, textbook, or in-house price database that is not already in the CatCost default Equipment Library. If, instead, you meant to add an equipment item that is already in the library to an estimate, close this dialog, click 'Estimates' at the top of the screen, select/create an estimate, and open '3b Equipment'.

Scaling using CEPCI

CatCost scales equipment entries from one point in time (the price quote) to another (the estimate basis year) using a cost index. The preferred way to do this is using a value for the Chemical Engineering Plant Cost Index (CEPCI) entered for that equipment entry based on the conditions at the time of the price quote. If a CEPCI value is not entered, CatCost will first try to look up the CEPCI value for the year that is entered for this equipment entry, and as a last resort it will use the ChemPPI (see user guide). The Nelson-Farrar refinery index is included for future use.
