Add New Material to Library

This dialog allows you to add a new material to the Materials Library. It will then be available to be added to any of your catalyst cost estimates. If, instead, you meant to add a material that is already in the library to an estimate, close this dialog, click 'Estimates' at the top of the screen, select/create an estimate, and open '2 Materials'.

Molecular Weight (MW) and Density

These two inputs are optional, but needed in certain cases. Enter a molecular weight if you want CatCost to display the quantity in mols of this material in an estimate, or if you want to use the % Yield mode in the 2 Materials module of a catalyst estimate with this material as a/the limiting reagent. Enter a density if you want to be able to add this material to an estimate using volume units.

Price Type

Price Type: Bulk Quote vs. Log-Log Extrapolation

CatCost accepts two types of materials prices. The first is a Bulk Quote, which means a price at ca. 1000-kg purchase scale or greater. If a Bulk Quote is not available for a material, CatCost can also extrapolate from two or more lab-scale (e.g. grams to kilograms) prices up to bulk scale (ca. 1000 kg order size or greater). See user guide for more details.
